Dr. Binod C. Agrawal

Founder

Binod C. Agrawal, (PhD-Anthropology,1970 University of Wisconsin, Madison, USA) had been a well-known International Communication Research expert who authored several books and numerous research papers and book chapters. He had a reputation for being innovative in research methods and techniques, institution building, and management and teaching leadership. He had worked for over two decades and had pioneered the use of qualitative methods for communication research during the world-famous Satellite Instructional Television Experiment (SITE), 1975-76, and led an interdisciplinary SITE social research team of over 100 social scientists. He also coordinated many other multi-state evaluative studies. In 1982, Dr. Agrawal was nominated as a member of the PC Joshi Committee to guide the Government of India on the Software for Doordarshan. It had been an honor to him as well as to the organization.

 

He had worked with Space Applications Centre – ISRO for two decades and moved on to set up TALEEM Research Foundation in Ahmedabad where he had worked from 1996 to 2015. He was also the Founder Director of MICA, Ahmedabad, and the founder Vice-Chancellor of Himgiri Zee University, Dehradun.

 

He had been an avid traveler and had lectured all over the world.

Dr. Arbind Sinha

President

Dr. Arbind Sinha, M.Sc. (Anthropology), Ph.D. (Sociology), is currently an adjunct professor at MICA, Ahmedabad, where he worked for 13 years and twice served as Head. After 22 years of working at the Space Applications Centre – ISRO, from 1974 to 1996, he opted for voluntary retirement to take a position as Professor at the TALEEM Research Foundation in Ahmedabad. Dr. Sinha worked as a Communication Advisor at the Royal Danish Embassy in New Delhi for over two years. Post-retirement, he worked as Director General of Shanti Business School in Ahmedabad for two years.

 

Dr. Sinha is an acknowledged expert in Development Communication who combines his  cultural anthropology knowledge and holistic communication skill for social development.

 

He is an authority on Ethnographic Research and Human Channel of Communication. He followed his interest in Social and Development Communication for over 30 years. He coordinated several studies on the science-society technology interface, including the Satellite Instructional Television Experiment (SITE), Kheda Communication Project, Interactive Tele-teaching, and Jhabua Development Communication Project. He has also worked on rural, health, and disaster communication.

Dr. Vinod Pandey

Dr. Vinod Kumar Pandey, a Ph.D. from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi is Professor in Department of Journalism & Mass Communication, Gujarat Vidyapith, Ahmedabad. He has been involved in teaching and research guidance to Ph. D and M. Phil Students for three decades.  He has also worked as lecturer in Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith, Varanasi.  

Prof Pandey has written five books and translated two award winning books, published more than 70 research papers in reputed national and international journals, participated more than 60 national and international media seminars and conferences and he is one of the members in editorial board of “Global Media Journal”.  Dr. Pandey is member of 16 learned bodies and organizations. He is also a member of Board of Studies in several Universities. He is also associated with Prof Anjan Kumar Banerjee School of   Communication, Lucknow.   One of the noteworthy awards bestowed upon Dr. Pandey by Banaras Press Club is “Patrakar Shree”.

Dr. Pradeep Mallik

Dr. Pradeep Kumar Mallik is Professor and Head of Department, Literature, School of Liberal Studies at the Pandit Deendayal Energy University, Gandhinagar. He hold Ph.D, M.Phil., M.S., P.G. Diploma in communication and his area of interest is Communication research, Development communication, Social communication/marketing, Media laws and ethics, Citizen journalism, Written and analytic communication, which he has perused in last 25 years of his carrier in print, broadcast and new media and worked with The times of India Group, Business India Group, IANS and Bhaskar Corp.

Dr Mallik follows a multi-disciplinary approach to communication study, teaching, research and practice. He has been on the visiting faculty of some leading media and communications schools in India and been resource person as several national and international seminars and workshops in India and abroad. He supervised several research dissertations, been involved in framing and reviewing university curricula, conducted faculty and management development programme sessions.

He has authored/co-authored three books, written chapters in edited volumes, and presented some papers.

Dr. Ruchi Tewari

Ruchi Tewari holds a PhD in communication management and has been teaching, training and researching in the field of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and communication for over 2 decades now. Dr. Tewari has been invited to several eminent national and international forums to present her work and has published in leading journals. She’s an established trainer with over 1000 hours of training to her credit. She has developed, coordinated and conducted successful training and mentoring programs for various organizations – both mainstream corporate and not-for-profit sector. Currently, she is associated with MICA-Ahmedabad as an Associate Professor.

Prof. Manisha Pathak-Shelat

Member

Manisha Pathak-Shelat, a PhD in Mass Communication from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA is a Professor of Communication &  Digital Platforms and Strategies and Chair, Centre for Development Management and Communication at MICA. She has vast experience of teaching and working as a media consultant and researcher in India, Thailand, and the US.  Awards and fellowships conferred on her include The Soviet Land Nehru Award, Shastri Indo-Canadian Faculty Research Award, The Salzburg Seminar Fellowship, and TATA Fellowship for the Study of Contemporary India.


She has led several capacity-building programs for non-profits, various state governments, the corporate sector, and international organisations in communication and information management and has worked as a consultant/advisor/resource person with various social sector organizations.


She is also the editor of the Journal of Creative Communications published by MICA with Sage.

Dr. Punita Harne

Member

Dr. Punita Arun Harne holds M.Phil. and Ph.D. degree in Journalism from Gujarat Vidyapith, Ahmedabad where she is Professor and Head at the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, and Dean, Professional Studies. She began her career as sub-editor in ‘The Times of India’ (regional edition during 1988–1993). Since 1994, she is in media education. Actively involved in academic writing, biographical writing, documentary writing, and communication research, she has authored three books as an author, two books as co-author, and has many entries in the ‘Gujarati Vishwakosh’ (encyclopedia). He has 20 published research papers, 5 chapters in edited books, and more than 90 popular writings in Gujarati, Hindi, and English at her credit. Dr. Harne has written 200 biographies on journalists of Gujarat and 50 outstanding women of Gujarat and edits an in-house journal of Gujarat Vidyapith. He is a resource person with various universities.


She is the recipient of a fellowship from the Government of India, Department of Culture, Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD), Government of India.

Dr. Komal H Shah

Member

Komal H Shah (PhD, UGC-NET, Masters in Development Communication) is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Communication & Journalism, Gujarat University, Ahmedabad. She has been in media academics and research for over ten years and has written two books and has to her credit several publications in national and international journals. Her major research areas include; Impact study of online and broadcast educational platforms; Disruption studies in digital media; Impact of development communication and religion & media. Ms. Shah is a four-time recipient of Asian Research Center (ARC), Bangkok support to present research papers in the international round table held in 2012, 2014, 2016 & 2017.
